3 Bridge race S.F. Bay

This race will be held on Sat. 1-30-16. Last year we had over 300 boats. This year looks to be just as big with over 20 boats in the same class as the Beneteau 37, ratings 111-159. Sponsored
by the Single Handed Sailing Society. You can race single or double Handed. Come out and have fun with us.

It is fun just don't get too attached to the idea of actually finishing. Race is around the three bridges taken in any direction and in any order, 26nm and wind is usually light.

323 entries as of now looks like it might just maybe have some wind, no rain and minimal tide so chance to finish

It looks like winds from the south 5-15k and the tides should favor starting with the GG and then to Red Rock. No more than 2k current on the ebb or the flood. You should be ready for some showers! Hey we are sailors looking for fun on the bay.

last time I got flushed out by the south tower, didn't deploy the anchor. So since I figure I was the first in my class to achieve the final result of not finishing technically I kinda won right?

364 boats from phrf of -135 to 273 run as a pursuit race. Start is interesting as you can go any direction you want around the course. So some are starting east to west, and some are starting west to east.

I start at 9:54:10 and will be going west. Hoping for winds of at least 10K. We have until 7:00 to finish the 26 mile course. I will let you know the result! Boat name is Elan, Beneteau 37 rating 114.

Well I am rated 108 "flying penguin" and I suppose I will be going west, as well unless I don't of course. I would like to start on starboard tack which likely = west.

Finished this year! Went CCW was stuck in a 1.5hr parking lot by red rock until the wind decided which way to blow. My son did most of the steering, we almost took out a First 36.7 in a port/starboard situation, not sure under pressure that he understands the word "transom"

We had a great day out there! We tacked 14 times in the whole race. We were stuck in the same no wind hole, but then the wind really came up. Great finish at 4:20PM. I think that is my personal best. Not good enough to place but beat a lot of good boats. We were with a J105 from Red Rock until the finish. Looking forward to the results.

I got there via pressure drop. We tacked way more than 14 times, my son got rather tacky at the end which was tough with the big genoa and cost us some time. Also we were a couple of minutes late at the start which wasn't good. A great day.

Better late than early! we were forced over by a boat turning up with the right of way, 39 seconds early cost us 20min, but still had a great time.

How did 'transom' play in a P/S meet?

Well we were on beating on port in 18knts doing about 6, and it looked like maybe we could get across in front, of this 36.7 on starboard that really should have been clobbering us. However not being too serious I instructed son at the helm to "take his transom". No reaction for a significant time, "take his transom" again, I am starting to get nervous. Finally son perks up starts bearing off but no traction too much weather helm we are now yards from disaster I blow the main sheet rudder gets traction we miss by a few feet and then almost gybe.

Great day. Stuck in hole backside of Angel island for a while, didn't get much use out of the spinnaker, but hit the windline and made it across the finish at 4:15.
Gonna do the SSS Corinthian race and the doublehanded Farallones.

It was a great finish, the wind was blowing! I finished at 4:19, but was penalized 20 min at the start. I will see you at the Corinthian but you can have the Farallones.
