Will a three blade PYI prop increase speed at the same RPM when compared to the standard 2 blade that comes with boat.

Dear Floyd: Thanks for your note. You may or may not see a speed increase when converted. This will completely be determined by whether the current two blade is operating properly. If the current two blade is a very narrow two blade sailor type pro and you convert to a large blade area ratio prop, like the Max-Prop, you may see an increase of speed at comparable Rpm’s. It is still very important to optimize the engines obtainable Rpm’s. You will benefit in two areas when and if you converted to a three blade. The first is the ability of maintaining the achievable speed of the vessel when heavy sea conditions arise. You will not see the speed loss like you do with your two. Second is the drivetrain will operate much smoother. Hope this helps. If you have any other questions please do not hesitate in contacting me. Sincerely, Kevin L. Woody

Not Much

The three blade prop will not give noticeable speed increase in forward or reverse but will give quicker response especially in reverse and backing down.
