I am thinking of changing my two blade prop to a three blade. I have seen an ad for the Campbell Sailor three blade prop. It looks interesting. Has anyone had any expierence with the Campbell Sailor? I would like to hear any comments, good or bad. Thanks, Jack Melton

Go with the Michigan Sailor Prop

I also had a two blade prop on my boat and changed it to a three. Here in Maine if you want to explore the rivers with the strong currents you need a three blade. I have had very good luck with the Michigan Sailor Prop. I installed a 15X9X1RH Sailor last season on my C-36. I know I give up some performance but it is worh it when you really need it. I would call Catalina to get a recomendation on the right size for your boat. Catalina knows best about this matter. On my C-30 I ordered a 3 blade from my local prop shop who claimed they ran the numbers and figured out what size I needed. Well they were wrong and I could not even get the motor passed 1800 RPM. I had to haul the boat and have the prop re-pitched and cut down. Plus I lost a week of my sailing season. Don't go with a one size fits all Campbel get the right prop for your boat and be happy.....Good Luck! Rodd C.

Look at Kiwi Props

Look at the Kiwi prop. It is a feathering 3-bladed prop that seems to perform better than any of the others on the market. It is designed for boats with engines under 50HP. It has synthetic blades that really reduce the spinning weight. Les Murray s/v Ceilidh '86 C-36 #560

If you have an A4

Jack: I recently checked Indigo Electronics site and they list a three blade prop they developedspecifically for the A4.

I tried Campbell Sailor

I have a 30' Catalina 1979 with a 5411 diesel 11 hp. When I bought the campbell Sailor I thought that the pitch was wrong after 3 pitch changes and $150.00 more I was back where I started. I think if I had to do it over again I would get a standard 3 blade prop, Campbell Sailer may be fine with a larger engine. It is still on the boat and it does work much better that the 2 blade original (very little prop walk as far as the drag who knows I don't think that it is magic) I suggest that you try one of the feathering or folding props. Good Luck Jim Nixon best of luck
