Any h290/306 owners with a 3 blade fixed prop. What diameter, pitch and brand do you have? Campbell Sailer recommended a 14x8x1, Michigan a 15x10 . Thanks

Adam:

You can take this for what it is worth, but I would NOT suggest that you take any measurements from owners and rely on the mfg/distributors of the products. You can always ask them what if...... will you resize the prop.

Norm at Campbell is usually very helpful and good to work with. Let him be responsible for the correct sizing.

When you compare a CS to a Michigan prop they really cannot be compared. I am not sure why his measurements are normally 1" less diameter than the Michigan props but it may have something to do with prop walk. That would also be a good question for him too.

Adam: My understanding of prop science is that you should have approx. 15% of the prop diameter as hull clearance. You typical 15" prop would need about 2.25" of clearance.

The closer the prop tip is in relation to the hull, the more prop walk that will be induced. This could be their (CS) reason for always having these smaller diameter prop specs.

I bought a 3 bladed maxi prop over the winter for my 306. Will be later April before it hits the water. Highly recommend Fred at PYI for specs. 1" shaft 15" by 10 I believe, but I'll double check for you.

Adam,
I've a 326 with 2GM20F and Campbell Sailer recommends 3RH 14"Dx8"Px1. I have to re-pitch it to 7"P to be able to reach max rpm 3400. I suppose your boat displacement is lower than the 326 so 14"Dx8"P may work for you. Then again it also depends on condition of your engine.
BTW, my stock prop was a 2RH 15"x10"P able to push at 3600rpm max.
