Hi;
I have read previous posts on 3 blade conversion. I need better control and responsiveness when docking with vigorous wind and current. I have also received different recommendations from two different vendors.

It looks like I will probably switch from 15x15 2 blade to a 15x13 three blade prop. BTW, I currently achieve 2900 RPM 6.9 knots (strobe checked) while cruising, 3100 rpm WOT but seem to suffer from lagged response with throttle bursts while docking that puts me into panic mode in tight situations.
Comments appreciated. Ilan

Consider a feathering propeller. There are a few brands out that have reversing blades which really reduce prop walk. I have a Brunton's autoprop which I really love but dealing with the people that sell them is way too much hassle to make it worth it. I have no prop walk what so ever and you think that would be awesome but once your used to prop walk it's weird not to have it. The thrust it puts out in reverse is exactly the same thrust as in forward. It is quite unique in that aspect. I would ask Fstbttms which prop he likes best, I'm pretty sure he doesn't like Bruntons.

I looked at feathering props, but I look at the crap on the prop when I take the boat out of the water and wonder it there would be any movement after a year or so in the water. Maybe if you're meticulous about cleaning the bottom...

I like the Campbell Sailor props. The 3-blade is nice, gives lots of thrust while not TOO much drag when under sail, and not excessive prop-walk. Anyway: get used to the prop-walk and use it to your advantage (ie stern thruster!)
