I have a '99 340 in the Chesapeake Bayand it currently has the standard 2 bladed prop. I am looking at getting a 3 bladed feathering prop. I am leaning towards the Kiwi prop and was hoping to get some feed back from other owners who have one. Thanks

Go for it

Fitted a kiwi prop 2 years ago its great not dragging a bucket and especially good in reverse , its full pitch so makes backing up into our Marina easy(THE DIVORSE LAWYERS MUST HATE THEM ?) Regards David

Have it, like it.

I like the Kiwi prop and I liked dealing with them. I replaced a fixed 3-blade, so there were some definite changes. The boat's ability to slip through the water under sail in light air is much enhanced, and in general the reduction in turbulence at the stern is remarkable at any speed. Easy to install and adjust. I lost a bit in top end speed, but that hasn't been a problem for the sailing I do. Backing is much smoother with less propwalk, although it doesn't bite as hard when moving back into forward, so that's something to anticipate. All in all, since I consider my boat a sail boat and not a motorboat or a motorcruiser, I've been very glad with the switch.

Autoprop is very good

My boat came with an Autoprop self feathering variable pitch prop. This is by far one of the best features I could want on a boat and I will lawys have one in the future. It gives me excellant control in reverse with minimal prop walk and forward is almost instantaneous. I have included a link that takes you to their site. I estimate that this prop kicked up my cruise speed by 1-1.5 knots with no additional RPM's.

Ditto! We've had an autoprop on our 356 for 6 years and it's a great improvement

the only issue is with the weak dollar they're expensive

Autostream

We just installed an Autostream feathering prop on our boat. Made a world of difference. I also picked up 1 to 1.5 knots motoring and around a knot or so under sail, depending on wind. And I have had no prop walk to speak of. The biggest problem I'm having is to unlearn correcting for prop walk when I back out of the slip; old habits die hard. The Autostream is distributed by Martec.

kiwi yes

I find that the topic "which prop is best" to get as many varied opinions as "is radar better on the mast or stern pole" and/or "religion". That said, I've had a KIWI for over a year now on my 38 and am thrilled. IF you decide to go with KIWI, don't bother with exedited shipment. I went with regular shipment and received the prop in 4 business days. Whatever your decision, it'll be the right one.

Glad to hear that John

I am installing a Kiwi prop on our H-38 next week. I need the yard to pull our old prop but I believe that I can easily install the Kiwi myself.

P.W.

Simplified: Prop walk is the tendency for the stern to "walk" in one direction or the other depending on the rotation of the propeller. It is most common in reverse. See a more detailed description of this phenomia at the link below.

Kiwi Best Prop ..Best Company

I bought a Kiwi Prop for my 386 three years ago and I love it...The boat backs like a dream, no prop walk, better sail speed, better fuel economy..What more could you ask for? Mine cost about $1200.00 delivered in a couple of weeks. The company was great about sizing it...E-Mail them if you have questions. You will get an almost instant response. Installation was simple. No brains required. You can pay a lot more but I don't think you will do better Fair winds.... Wayne "Sine Wave" Buffalo, NY
