3.5" deck plate

We have had difficulty locating a 3.5" deck plate for our emergency tiller hole. Any suggestions on where one can be located? Thank you so much! Bob Sorrell - "Busy Living"

The smallest deck plates I've found so far are at BoatUS. They have one for a 3-7/8" opening that is 5-1/2" in diameter. The problem I have is that the opening for the emergency tiller in my 28' is only 2" and the steel tube for the emergency tiller comes all the way up flush to the fiberglass. I'm thinking about trimming the steel down somehow and enlarging the hole to fit the deck plate.

I Enlarged the hole is what I did for my 28' 3" or 4" this place has good prices on deck plates.

How?

Did you have to cut down the metal tube when you enlarged the tiller hole? If you did, how did you do it? Thanks.
