The second saling season is well underway here and I had an interesting time preparing 'Breezin' for the splash. Did a bunch of stuff I had never done before being guided by the many fine posts here on how to do things like repair blisters and prepare the hull for bottom paint (terrible job - I'm still digging blue dust out of my ears). But she is looking better all the time. The biggest improvement, however, was how the boat sails now after some attention to tuning the rigging and adding some mast rake aft. Over the winter I bought one of the inexpensive tension gauges and by just following the general suggestions in the instructions I have found that the boat points into the wind much better and is showing much less weather helm than last season (boat came with mast up and I just left it that way). Had a bit of a time getting the mast up this first time but we didn't hurt anyone or break the boat so it turned out fine. Tonight will be a near full moon, clear and winds at 10 and I will sailing the moonlight at midnight with a special friend (she loves the boat). Hope your evening will be as nice. Dennis

Out in it

Thanks for the link Ed. You're right, no need for floating weather stations on old Saylorville Lake - all we need is the occasional tornado siren. Do you go out in the current conditions? Dennis
