Good Day:

I have read the two threads on adding a second halyard for a vision 32. Anyone else put a second halyard on. How have the others worked out. I would like to add a second halyard.

Anyone been in Rough Weather on a Vision. Any new mast failures.

When it rains, and it rains all the time, my bilge gets lots of fresh water. I have sealed around the mast and stanchions, still get lots of water in the bilge. Arggg, drives me nuts.

Not sure what you mean by 'rough'. Big seas and 30 knots offshore qualify? For what it's worth, the Vision handled it just fine with a double reef and furled jib.

As far as the water, try this: buy a dry-erase marker. Draw some heavy lines around suspected areas. Then you can see where the water is coming from. I did this on a couple of boats. Usually found I was wrong in my guesses.

I have not read a single thread about a mast failure on a Vision model. Where did this come from?

2nd Main Halyard????

Why would you want to install a second main halyard? I'm stumped, please explain.

When I send my Kid to the top there is very little security in one line. And Two lines are better than one.

Peter:

I would need to agree that a second main halyard would be a great idea. If you have a fractional rig and one of your halyards fail there would be no way to get to the top without removing the mast (fairly expensive).

As far as getting water in the bilge that probably going to happen with a keel stepped mast. The water come in at the top around the sheaves.

Are you having problems with water coming in around the deck?
