2GM20F Trans Oil Level

Can anyone confirm that the oil sump for the Yanmar 2GM20F transmission is .25 liter or about 8.25 ounces? Also, is the recommended method of checking the trans oil to just rest the dipstick threads on the top of the hole rather than screwing it back in? Is that right?

Oil level check

Correct, .25 liter, with the plug NOT screwed in. I found it easier to see if I put a piece of masking tape on the dip stick to check. (Remove when done checking.)

Alternative stick

I use a wooden stick with a washer stuck at precisely the level of the threads. The end is painted white and shows the trans fluid level more clearly.
