Exactly Enough .............................

........................... to bring it up to the full mark with the dip stick NOT screwed in. No more, no less.

Sounds like you got a little extra for your money.

It's about 0.3 L (0.63 US pint).

Very important not to overfill ! Because of the quantity of oil appearing on the shiny dip stick it is sometimes hard to see if there is any oil on it. So, I clean and dry the stick, then put a wrap of blue or green masking tape right at the line on the stick. When you dip it and remove, any oil will be easily seen and if any touches the masking tape then you have an overfill situation. DO NOT FORGET to remove the tape and clean the stick before re-installing.

From the Service Manual, it translates to o.25 Quarts in the transmission for the 2GM20F engine.

Less is more? Overfilling an engine or gearbox can cause the oil to contact the rotating internal parts and be whipped so violently it causes the oil to foam. Foamy oil doesnt offer nearly the lubrication and cooling properties the oil would have otherwise. Kind of along the lines of killing with kindness.

The service manual says to use the same lubricant as for the engine. Most people use SAE 30. .30 liters, or 10 oz. US.
