The last couple of times I took my boat out, when I turned the key on there was no alarm only silence. The engine started and ran fine, and when I shut it down the alarm worked fine. Any idea what is going on?

Test your buzzer. Inspect the wire harness from the engine to control panel. The harness is sometimes routed around sharp fiberglass edges and with time due to hull flexing the insulation gets chaffed down to bare wires causing intermittent electrical shorts. Make sure the connection to the sender is clean and tight. This are just other possibilities besides the sender.

It can also be caused by a dead spot developing in the ignition switch. Move the key around and see what happens. I had this same thing a few years ago with the same engine. replaced the switch for about $12 and problem solved.

I tried playing with the key switch and nothing happened. I tried that toggle switch and it started working.
