Sorry, I don't buy em. The new 290 photos do not look like a Hunter. Primarily, there is no wrap around windshield. It looks like one of the older boats. If they are real, why is Hunter going back to the minimal window/light concept? Mark

photo has been doctored

The photo has been extensively retouched. In truth, it's a catamaran. :) No, *really* the photos are used untouched as they came to me from Jim B. I just wanted to have a little editorial fun, as Mike P. has asked about "spy" photos of the 290 a few days earlier.

Maybe, just maybe they have been listening?

Maybe Hunter is listening in on the web site. Going back to basics? The traveler is in front of the companionway so no arch(aka roll bar). Now where is the metal toe rail? Now if we can get the politicans to listen, what could really happen?

Just looked at photos again

It's got the new hull-deck joint, stern design, and ports. It's gotta be new, but you're right, it lost some of the new style features.

This is whatI've been told.

Having ordered a 290, I have been desperately seeking particulars on the design. I received the same pictures from my broker who has apparently seen the prototype. Regarding the arch, it will have a forward facing stainless steel arch. In fact, I read a press release stating that all new Hunters will have S.S. arches. Mainsheet attaches to top of arch with an optional traveler unlike all the pictures show. Taking deliveyr in about a month so I guess I'll know then!

Just saw one today for real !

I just saw the real thing on display at American Maine & Sail in Zebulon, NC. Looks a lot like the spy photos. I did not go inside (Too hot here) but it looks nice from the outside. The reverse stainless steel arch looks interesting. The opening ports on the side of the cabin open outward, they are actually hatches. They looked a bit strange.
