I am planning to perm install air conditioning in my 29.5 and would appreciate information on the following if you have done it: 1. How many BTU's (Chesapeake summers)? 2. Where did you locate the unit? 3 Did you self-install? Thanks in advance. Cheers!

29.5 Air Conditioner Info

Our 1996 29.5 came with a Marine Air 9000 BTU AC with reverse cycle heat already installed. Unit is mounted under the aft end of the V-berth with the sea water pump mounter in the bilge area under the Saloon table. 9000 BTUs is sufficient for Florida summers so should be adequate for your area. If interested I can take some digital photos next time I am at the boat. Will send them to you directly if you send me your email address. Let me know if you need any other info. I saw a Hunter 33, not that this would be unique to Hunter, that had a window air conditioner fastened in an custom board in place of the board closing off the cockpit from the main cabin, and powered by a Honda 1000 (I think) generator. Probably less expensive than a built in one, but not as convenient to enter the main cabin. My Legend 37 has a 12000 BTU installed and I use a Honda EU2000 to power it.
