My 1995 29.5 has a fixed cabin table. I believe that some (earlier?) models had adjustable tables that could convert into a double berth? Does anyone know why this change was made. Did it work well or was it a problem? It looks as if my table could be made adjustable - does anyone have any experience of making this design change?

Mine is adjustable

I have a 1995 29.5 Hull #229. It has an adjustable cabin table. Are you sure the adjustment line (about 3/8 ") hasn't been removed?

Adjustable Option

I think is was an option that had to be ordered from the factory. The post and table are different. We have it and it is a little bit of a hassle to put down, a little harder to pull up-but it does make a BIG BERTH!

Adjustable Table - More info please

Thanks Bob Zolczer for your response. Could you please describe how the table is clamped to the pillar. Does it have just one large clamping screw with a handwheel or a number of cross headed screws that have to be removed each time you lower the table? Why do you find it a hassle?

mine has but...

Mine 95' 29.5 has this table .It worked fine at the begining , but with some moister/water somehow going in this mast suport now, probably the inner weight -connected to the 3/8 line to assist the table movement up and down-has corroded (I guess this inner metal weight is not S.S...),and 'glued' itself to the inner walls of the mast suport tube..So now the whole thing is useless , my luck it got stuck at the right hight.. As a whole the idea is fine giving-with the then optional supplied inner mattress- a huge berth. In practice : 1. It got stucked after a while ..( good idea, bad execution..,) If anyone had similar problem , and manage to fix it , please advise. 2.I didn't find myself sailing overnights with more than 4 persons , so this extra triple berth didn't got much use. Look , you may have this option , but maybe the line was desconected . In this case i suspect there is no way to deal with this unless unsteping the mast in order to dismount the mast support tube , hopefully it is open at the bottom.
