After purchasing the 281 used I noticed that the forestay cable was kinked at the top. I had a new headstay fabricated and reassembled the furler. When we went to furl the sail it wanted to wrap the halyard around the part in which the sail slides up and down on. Now I know why the forestay was damaged. It appears that if I put the part that raises the sail in with the big part to the top all will work well but this does not look like the right way to do it. Has anyone else seen or heard of this problem?
