How about wannabe's?

Hi Scott, I have a 87H285. I've never formally raced it (not counting those informal things that happen whenever two boats converge and each tries to pull ahead of the other as unobtrusively as possible). However, I'm intested in trying it. Whereabouts on the Chesapeake are you? Eric Lorgus s/v Explorer 87H285 ELorgus@AOL.com

don't give up the ship

I have been racing my for years, both spinnaker and non spinn. phrf rating with spinn, 155%, 2 blade fix prop is 189.Add 12 sec for non spinn. The boat is sensitive, try not to over power the boat to weather, reef when nessecary.

How about Ulysess

There is or was a 28.5 Ulysess, who appeared several times in Spin Sheet with some good runs.

Missed your question first time

I work in Portsmouth, VA. for the next two months anyway. I will be retiring from the CG this summer, and going back to Charlotte, NC. My family is down there now. I would be happy to sail with anyone in the Hampton Roads area that may need crew. Thinking of bring my boat up for the Cock Island race this year in June. Scott

2nd year racing

Last year was the first year I raced my 28.5 in REAL competition. I learned a lot last year. I can tell you a few things that I will do differently this year or equipment added. The big thing is that the boat is tender. I should have reefed much sooner then I did. I have a shoal draft and I don't point as well the other boats so never did well to the first mark. I have added a back stay adjuster. This should help with weather helm and saw a big difference last year when I preset the back stay on heavy air nights. Down wind, espeacially in light air, get your stern out of the water and move even yourself forward. I finally added a new main and recut my 155 to a 150. I was never happy with the slot on the 155 and I hope that I will see improvement up wind. Off wind we make up the most ground and pole out the jib to get a nice shape. I offen think the boat would be better with a 135. I used live on the Magothy in MD and the wnds are going to be light offen. Last year up here the winds showed up most nights. Would love to share what you have learned and some ofyur results. We don'tstart racing herer until the 20th of May. Good luck

28.5 Racing

I'm not heavy into racing, but am interested in ways to make the boat go faster in light and heavy air. Any tips would be appreciated.
