Well, finally got the boat launched and had my first sail of the season. I'm about 3 weeks late this year due to a "to do" list that kept growing and my inattention to getting into the launch queue at my busy marina. Anyway, it was great to be back on the water and the boat did well on its spring debut. But I noticed my headsail halyard, which runs back to the cockpit, is getting a bit stiff and cruddy looking. Time for replacement. As it turns out, I have a new halyard from a previous boat that is about 90-ft long and I hope will fit. Anyone happen to know the length of the headsail halyard that runs back to the cockpit on the H28.5?
(I note the h28.5 website states the headsail halyard w/shackle is 98 ft, but wonder if that is correct?)

If I remember correctly....

Warren, If I remember correctly when had my H28.5 I replaced the main halyard with one that was 90' long. Fairly certain of that.

Warren, I've always seem to have too much halyard coiled next to the cabin top winches, so I give the 90' existing 'new' halyard a try. Attach a messenger line to the tail of the existing Genoa halyard and pull out the old halyard down to the fore deck; then disconnect the messenger line from the old tail and attach it to the new tail and pull it back thru the mast head and down to the cabin top side. I hope your 'new Genoa halyard is 3/8" low stretch, but if it is hoisting a roller furler that may not matter. I believe the OEM was 7/16" Yacht Braid.
