Second the notion
As a former 272LE owner, I second the notion that this is a fine boat. A nice stiff ride, comfortable weekend coastal cruiser, very forgiving to sail. And it's true what some say about the chainplates -- have them inspected and, if necessary, reinforced. If they're in good shape, your No. 1 headache is out of the way. The Westerbeke 10-2 sips fuel and runs as reliably as you could want with just basic routine maintenance. (If you think it's too loud -- which I never really noticed -- put soundproofing insulation in the engine box.)And, like Bill said, make a point of coming on up to Milford, CT, in July for the owners' rOnDAYvous. You'll be really glad you did. And don't waste a second worrying about whether the 272 can handle a trip like that. My 272LE made the trip from South Jersey to Long Island Sound on a few occasions, and I never had a problem.Good luck,Petes/v EmmieLou (O-322)Little Silver, NJ
