Hi to all I am close to buying a 272 1986 O Day my question is ref to this boat what are the pros and cons Thank you in advanceRespectfully Frank J

I have seen the 272 and it is really nice & looks very comfortable & luxurious. I own a '77 O'Day 27 & I like it a lot. Just a thought -- my boat weighs 6950 & the 272 weighs about 5300. That seem's like a pretty big difference. The 272 also is pretty pricey compared to the 27.

Several of us correspond back and forth about the boat, its sailing characteristics, flaws, and upgrades we've made on the boats. Love mine...

Hi Frank, Bought my 1987 272LE last August. Even though I only had a couple of months to sail it last season I was not dissapointed. I think this has got to be one of the best production designs ever. The only problem I have is that with my previous boat, while everyone had their blades up and a reef or two in, I was sailing with full main and 150. The 272 definately has a tendancy to round up. Eventually, you get a good feel for how much sail to have up. Good luck, and keep us posted.Cheers,Bob
