272 whisker pole

Most whisker poles have an opening jaw on one end (and perhaps another on the other), but sometimes something that looks like a finger with a little hook to it, like you bent only the last nuckle on your finger (bending the part of the finger with the nail on it). The jaw end fits into the ring on your mast and you ALWAYS want to have the jaw opening facing up. The pointed end fits into the cringle on the sail end, or, some pointed ends also have a small sheave where you would then just lie the pointed flat end over the sheet near the clew of the sail and the line would roll on the sheave too.
On the original 272 the Z-spar mast had a tract on the forward surface to which a sliding connection piece (ring) connected (assumed also supplied by Z-spar). This type of connection allowed the whisker pole connection point to slide up and down, i.e. be infinitely adjustable. Mine was lost overboard and I never saw another one on any of the 272's that showed up at our club....I'm going to try and go to the lake today and I will look at the other
272's and see if they still have the ring. Z-spar may still have some available.
Your mast brand may be different and the ring connection may be as well.
