There is a 272 moored near where I keep my DS II and they have what they describe as a "modified EZ-Loader trailer". that they use as a winter storage cradle and way to bring the boat home (about 30 miles inland) each Fall. I think he uses a travel-lift to launch/haul though.
TRAILEX is one of the best trailer companies around for sailboat trailers, but they tend to be big bucks $$.
I'd suggest at least getting an estimate from a local EZ-Loader dealer.

I bought a "TRAIL-RITE" power boat trailer and changed it for my Oday 26, very easy and adjustable. Cost was real low and very MINOR welding. A different level of tires and it would haul a 27. see jpg's attached.

Jon,

I bought the boat and gtrailer, had the wheel bearings packed and hauled to Kingman Kansas. I have towed the boat with a 1/2 ton GMC Sierra and the trailer is set up perfect. Even has strap openings on the rear bunks.

Captn Mapache,
The extension brackets that hold your bunks look exactly like the ones I have on my Long Mfg. Trailer. They're great brackets. I think that's the secret to converting a powerboat trailer over to a keel/centerboard sloop trailer. All he needs is a tandem trailer that will handle the weight and be long enough to float his boat on and off. All I needed was the long extension brackets, (mine are 24" long) and the boards for the keel to rest on. I took two pressure treated planks and sandwiched them together and used two power company lightening arrester brackets to hold them to my trailer's cross members. The brackets that hold my planks can be loosened so I can move my planks to one side. This comes in handy for jacking my boat off the trailer and putting it on sailboat stands.
My question to you is: Are your extension brackets 24" like mine or are they longer? Your info can be helpful to a lot of guys who own O'Day 25 k/c sloops and want to trailer them. My boat is an O'Day 222 k/c and I bought my Aluminum tandem trailer new off a Long dealer in Rhode Island several years ago. My trailer is 4600 Lbs and was made for a 23' boat. Being a longer trailer, I have no problem floating my boat on and off it without an extension tongue.
