Replaced run rail on our 30 and it was pretty easy. Makes a huge difference!!

I replaced the rubrail on my 272 a couple of years ago. I bought a roll of rubber/vinyl material, almost 1.5 inches wide, and with a big slot in it for 1/2 laid line for a nice interesting look. I never got it as well-fitted as I could have, but it was effective and looked pretty good. Thick and chunky so worked well to protect the hull joint. I would recommend something similar but somewhat smaller. The only think with the flexible material is that you need to be careful with the fasteners, because the material will deform if you overtighten. Def a 2-person job in warm weather, because you have to get the stuff laid out and pliable, and hold it in place to apply the fasteners. I am selling my 272, or I would be pulling it off and remounting it to look nicer. Always cared more about sailing than cosmetics though, for better or worse.

here's a pic where you can kind of see what the thick black rubrail looks like. The 1/2" line pulled out of the stern section on port and came apart, so that's why there is none there, but I always though it looked nice with laid line in the groove.
