272 Permanent fuel tank

I am looking for advice on installing a permanent fuel tank for my 272. Boat has an outboard motor. I am looking to do away with the carryon 6 gallon tanks needed for extended trips. Thank you in advance for any information you might be able to forward.

Permanent tankage

There are several posts in the archive about installing permanent tanks - at least one from my own musings about doing it. I ultimately decided not to for several reasons. First, I didn't want to mess with the trim of the boat, but that proved to be a minor issue.For me it came down to stale fuel and water. With a bigger tank I realized there would be periods when the fuel in the tank could get quite old. With unmixed fuel that's ok. With premixed fuel that could become an issue. I also realized with a big airspace at the top of a near empty tank I would have much bigger condensation issues. So - I eventually with with a six gallon day tank and a couple of jugs.YMMV -Justin

I did it

I put an internal tank in my Oday 25 and love it. Better balance as now the fuel is lower. Cost about $325-$350.It is a 12 gal tempo plastic. I also did an electric pump, fuel guage, a blower, fill line, vent, and feed line to the engine. Works great, no mess and I fill the tank about two times per season. at the end of the season, I mix in some 2 cycle stabalizer, disconnect the line from the engine fitting, and then run the pump until the tank is nearly dry. In the spring, 1 gallon of gas mixed with dry gas, pump it out and start fresh. No problems.
