I have to replace my forestay and was hoping to make it a one weekend deal together with replacing my furler. I was wondering if anyone might know the pin to pin lenght of the forestay so I can have one made before dissasembly. and needing to know how hard it is to unstep/step the mast especially if it's possible with the boat in the water. I appreciate advice Steve

Fore Stay length

Steve, Rudy Nickerson of D&R Marine could make you up a new fore stay, but where you have a furler you'd be better off giving him a call. I'm providing you with Rudy's web site link. I can't help you as far as how to take the mast down on a 272. A friend of mine bought one last year and I helped him sail it from Cape Cod to Bristol RI. I really didn't pay much attention to what it had for a mast step. I've raised and lowered masts on the O'Day 25s, Tanzers, Bristols, and my own 222, and am pretty familiar them. Good luck! Joe
