I'm replacing my 16-year-old CDI furler with a new SIMPLICITE furler from Longeuil, Quebec. And for installation purposes I need to know the length of the forestay between the swages (i.e. wire only). Anyone know this? It would save me a trip up the mast.

Measure the boat

Hi Dennis, My sail maker insisted I measure my boat and he showed me differences between production boats within the same year. Different masts with differences in size. True it only varied by 3 to 5 inches but I measured and no problems. Good Luck, Bob

Forestay length

Dennis, Rather than going up the mast, couldn't you slip a piece of split PVC 1 foot long with a steel tape measure secured to it, pull it up with the jib halyard until it rests against the swage and read the bottom end? I would look at the top with binoculars making certain that you have made contact with the swage. Good Luck
