Considering Purchase of 272. All looks good except the large number of gelcoat cracks in many locations, some load bearing some not. Is this a boat specific problem with "too thick" gelcoat, expansion rate difference between non-skid and smooth, or do I rule out this boat?

More Info

Cracks are most common where holes exist and are typically in the claar areas ( other then the non-slip ). Hunter tec at the national cite confirmed that they may well be due to "too-thick" gelcoat. He sugests a sounding with a large coin to quickly check for delamination. He further stated that many boats are fine with cracks other then the cosmetic issue and potential problems at re-sale time. Perhaps 200 hairline cracks. Boat has sat in the sun with little use or maintanance.
