I am planning on replacing the original sails on my 270 and am interested in hearing from others about their experiences with sailmakers, 135% v. 150% roller furling genoas, full battened v. std mainsails, prices, etc. I am also planning on adding a Genaker to the inventory and would be interested in opinions and rigging ideas.

Catalina might be a ggod place to try

I would give them a call as well as North Sails. I really like dealing with North Sails. I thinks they are worth the money. UK is a good sail too! Why do you have to replace them. How old is your 270, 1992? They sould have some life or are you planning on racing?

1995 Catalina Sails

I have a 1995 Catalina 270, I have owned her for three years now. I raced the first year with the old sails, The main had a very deep draft which made the boat hard to handle in heavy air.The old sails were still in fair condition but I wanted new sails, The boat handled alot better with the new sails, and boy did it make a difference. I was not the only one that noticed the difference, the boats behind me could also see the what new sails can do for a boat. I had Bank Sails in Kemia Texas make my new main and head sail. I was very pleased with both sails. As for as your question concerning the 135% V. 150% and full batten sails, this is something you should ask a good sailmaker. It all depends on what you want out of your sails, and the type of conditions you will be sailing in. Good luck!
