I have always kept my Catalina 270 at a slip. This year it will be at a mooring, the cleats at the bow seem to small. Any Thoughts???? Have thought of putting a line on the cleat for the anchor...but wonder if the hatch will be in the way,the line would come through a roller, which is used when anchoring.... Please any suggestions mjdowd1@hotmail.com

mooring with small cleats.

Not sure I understand the question but if it's the mooring pendant or it's eye splice that is too large to fit around the bow cleat, you can just attach a smaller line to the bow cleat and tie it to the mooring pendant. Consider doing it in a bridle set up with one end of the smaller line tied off on one bow cleat, then run the other end through the mooring pendant eye splice, and then tie it off on the other bow cleat. Experiment to make sure the length of the bridle is right for when the boat swings. Too high can chafe it on bow rollers, anchor, etc., and too low can rub off your bottom paint.
