Is there such a thing? Carina has P E & Js suggesting it is not standard but 'tall'. Anyone know about this or should I worry that Carina is not what she seems. That said, I always felt she was exceptional! Cheers

What's the tall rig height?
Great question Carina. My rig seems pretty tall compared other boats 27 feet long at my marina. As a matter of fact, it is about the same height as some of the sailboats in the lower 30 foot range. Since I have the mast down this winter I roughly measured it and it is about 36.5 feet long. Could it be a tall rig? Manny

It is nice to know we have a strong support group and we won't have to pay for private therapy. I don't have my numbers now but maybe they are worth adding to the knowledgebase for what that's worth... Not to ruffle any feathers but I too have noticed many that are on the smallish size. However, I think those are usually trailer sailors. Possibly because of keel weight or being able to step the mast. Anyway back on subject, thanks again. Anyone else who's bought sails or whatever support the tall rig version of the 27? Cheers all & and early Spring HughR

Yes, there is a tall rig designation for the h27 Cherubini. I think it was designated for all models after a certain year and it was used to set the boats apart from the products of other manufacturers. Back in the mid 70's early 80's the high aspect ratios for sail size provided by tall masts was thought was the way to go so there was kind of a marketing competitive advantage in carrying the tallest mast and the designation of Tall Rig. As far as I know Hunter only advertises one mast measurement of 36'3" for both its deep and shoal keel boats. Not sure what year model the designation came into use but it seems to be all in the name as there are no factory made short versions.
