I need to replace the "cheap" nylon bow cleats that came on my 97 26X. I figure I have to get up through the floatation from the panel in the bow berth. Has anyone out there done this? What am I up against? Appreciate in advance any feedback or tips.

Me too

Yea. I want to do the same in my '96 26X. I've read eports from others that you have to remove the flotation and then you can get to the inside nuts. It'll prpbably take two people to do it -- one outside and one inside. It would also be a good idea to install metal backing plates when you do it. Also, I doubt that the holes for stainless cleats would match thoe old holes, do you'll have to dril at least one new hole on each side and fill the old ones.

Need to replace cleats also

I also need to replace cleats. Is there a way to find out if the mfg used a plate secured underneath since the bolts are removed by a screw driver. I hope this would be the case. can't find anything in the manual. need to contact macgregor directly I would guess
