We commissioned a 2005 Hunter 260 on the weekend that has never seen the water and the through hull fitting under the kitchen sink started leaking, we did not notice the leak until we positioned the boat in the slip so we tried to tighten the inside bulkhead fitting while still floating and were able to slow it to a slow weep, the inside backing plate for the bulkhead fitting is ¾ thing piece of plywood and its now damp.
Now that I’m hauled out on the trailer is it as simple as taking the fitting off and putting 3M 5200 behind the metal outside hull fitting? Do I need to replace the plywood backing plate if it was only wet for 48 hours?
Thanks
Bruce
