Has anybody used 3/8 inch line instead of 5/16 for jib and main halyard on a 260? I'm about to go home on mid-tour (One year participant in the ongoing Iraqi Sand Regatta) and the boat's been sitting for eight months. I want to replace the halyards before I put the boat in the water and was wondering if anybody has rerigged using a slightly larger (and easier on the hands and stronger) lines. Thanks. Deucer

Everything is a compromise.

thicker halyards will induce increased friction adding to the necessary pulling force and thus the wear on your hands. The tendency has been to go to high quality low strech smaller halyards.

Halyard Clutch Slippage

My stock 5/16 inch halyards are slipping in the cabintop Spinlock clutches. I've ordered mods for the clutches that adapt to smaller lines. Anyone else having similar experiences?
