Has anyone ever checked into seeing how hard it is to install and how much it costs to convert a 260 keel version over to an inboard disel. Thanks Dave O.

Dave, IMHO you'd be much better off finding a boat

that already has an inboard. The costs of all the parts & pieces; engine, trans, prop shaft, prop shaft strut, prop, thru hull, muffler, engine mounts, shift console & cables, engine panel w/ key and guages would be on the order of $10,000 ++ not counting the engine bed preparation, drilling the hull for a shaft log, mounting the prop strut and getting all that in proper alignment. Just way too much $$ and effort.

Inboard, diesel, or both!?

You know that there are more options than just having a "traditional" installation. There are diesel outboard, though rarer than gas, but that way you can have the advantages of diesel and not convert. Or - you could consider an outboard well (though i'm not sure if the 260 has a good place to put one). Just some other alternatives!

They used to make....

...an inboard diesel version of the 260. It was called 270, I think. I'd just look for one of those.
