Poll: Where have you mounted your bilge pump? What type/s are you using? Thanks in advance. Everyone is helpful.

bilge pump

I have two Rule 800's on my 25 on a float switch in the bottom of the bilge area. They fit perfect. I have them ran both to the back of the transom to a tee fitting well above the waterline then a loop and out through the transom. They are both controlled from a switch that can be set to auto or manual. Its more than enough and actually over kill. I have been told that a rule 1000 automatic will also fit but its a very tight fit. I am not sure if the bilge area of a 26 is the same? I would think they are very similar.

Thank you. I also do not know if they're similar, but I assume they are. Assuming they are...When you speak of your bilge, are you refering to where the engine would be, or the area under the sole inside? If it's under the sole inside, how did you get your hoses out to the engine compartment?

bilge

I was referring to under the board in the cabin sole. The bilge area has two sides that are formed by the area that the centerboard sits when its in the up position. I have a rule 800 on each side in the lowest area. On the 25 there is a hole from this area to under the sink area that is right below the companionway. From there, there is also a hole from under the sink area to the engine compartment" that's under the cockpit for out boarders" having two pumps in my opinion is really over kill. One would be more than enough and a manual hand pump incase you lost power. After thinking about how mine is ran I think I actually have the two pumps teed very close to the pumps and a single hose ran to the transom. I can grab a picture this weekend if it would help you. I would bet that you have some kind of drain hole from your engine compartment to your bilge area. On the 25 the holes are just large enough for the bilge hose. I plan to increase the hole sizes next winter so that water can drain to the bilge a little easier. Keith.

Thanks Keith

I'm positive my boat is the same. I'm going with two pumps too, one in the bilge just to clear out the water in the bilge from the icebox draining and a big one with a higher float switch in the engine compartment for any emergency. Thanks for your input; I've got work to do now.
