25oday engine location

HI to all,
My 25 o'day has the outboard mounted on the starboard transom.
Now, the batteries etc are also on the same side. Everyone seems to gravitate on the starboard side , too. This is the side you have to pass to get forward also. Boy, would I love to mount the engine on the port side of the xsome, thus balancing the boat better. However the builders only have the plywood sandwiched in between the glass on the starboard side.
What an odd thing to do ! Does anybody have an easy answer ( just short of rebuilding the transome ) on how to stiffen up the port side for my new 9.9 honda ( 107 lbs ) ? ? ?

Sit on the other side..... ;-) My 1977 is the same way and once I get the motor out of the water and are sailing, I really do not notice any thing different on either tack. Tell people to sit on the high side as best they can. Not really worth it I don't think to start moving the motor mount. Maybe move the battery to the center of the boat.

Yes I had thought of relocating the batteries on a glassed in shelf on the extreem port side high up in the laz area. So I won,t be stern heavy I am installing a 5k self contained marine-air air/heat system way forward under the vee berth ( with 3' euro vents throughout ) Thanks for the input

On my 1980 model the OB is on the port side, battery on the starboard. I never noticed but assumed that the whole transom was reinforced. I have a photo showing the plywood ran from the port side to the gudgeon mounts of the rudder but does not show past that.
Since the side opposite the motor usually had a boarding ladder, I figured it too would be reinforced.

I will bet that by 1980 o'day realized that locating the engine on the port side was a much better idea ( as far as the boat sitting in the slip ) regarding static trim. I have some engineering ideas on how to reinforce the port side of the transome without big surgery. I'll keep u posted ROD
