The cable on my '25 swing keel snapped at the end of the season and has to be replaced. Can anyone tell me how difficult (or expensive) a job it is?

replacing swing keel cable

Myra, You should look in the archives as several folks have discussed this. It seems easy enough if the boat is out of the water and high enough to drop the centerboard. That could depend on why it broke. If its just the cable it should be cheap. Mine works well but the last person who changed it put cable all the way up to the cockpit. I hate that cable! I'd replace it with some type of cord. Look in the archives. Good Luck, Mike

little preventive maintenance

Based on the responses in this string, I am going to go ahead and change the keel cable. It may not need it now, but I'd rather not involuntarily go through the season with the board stuck down. Thanks for the info. steve!
