Lining up my mild winter / spring projects and got a few questions.

1st Question
I'm aware of the deck core and care needed when bedding hardware. How about the pushpit and pulpits? Does that location have cored deck? There is some rust staining coming out from under the mounting plate of the pushpit so I may re bed it in the spring.
2nd Question
Has anyone replaced the jib standup blocks with a jib track for more adjustment of the jib sheets? I took off the bad jib standup block on the port side but waiting for warm spell so I can pot the holes with epoxy before mounting new blocks. Wondering if I should go through the trouble of a track or stay with the deck mounted blocks.
3rd Question
Is it okay to use the winches for spring lines running towards astern to pilings? Would it be a better idea to plan on mounting cleats mid boat?
4th Question
I was crawling around under the cockpit and saw that something was epoxied to the underside of the cockpit sole. It had been cut off cleanly and the epoxy looks original. Any ideas what might have been there? Photo below.

1) Don't know. 2) I have them and like them. Wish I had better ones then I do though. 3) I sure have thought about a mid cleat myself. I would think with some of strain I have put on the winches it would hold but expensive fix if they don't. If you add a cleat would like to know how you deal with the toe rail. 4) I have the same thing on mine and asked the same question when I first got my boat. Consensus was they are something used in the manufacturing process. Greg

Greg,
Would you have any pics of the jib tracks? I am interested in what you installed.
Interesting about the work under the cockpit deck. Gave me an idea to epoxy in some flat storage in that area.
My cuurent plan is to install the cleat just behind the rear lifeline stanchion within reach without leaving the cockpit. I think a spacer of startboard material slightly thicker than the toe rail should work to raise the cleat. Of course, this is from the couch, have to get to the boat to to see if it would really work.
Loved the Alaska photos BTW.

I will post this here put if you can't see it well I can e-mail a larger view. You can see the forward and the rearward tracks The rear one for Genoa.

I always think about making the floor under there flat it would make it nicer.

Looking At The Pics Of The Area Under The Cockpit Perhaps The Po Was Attempting To Add Some Type Of A Rigid Material There In An Attempt To Make The Cockpit Floor More Rigid To Prevent Cracks From Flexing.?

That photo works for letting me know where to place the tracks on mine if I go ahead with the project.

Thanks

3) It is fine to use the winches, they are your strongest piece of hardware. If you are using cleats then ensure they are the four bolt type and not the two screw type.

The pulpit is in cored deck. Be prepared to repair that as it will be soft, I'm sure. U can see my repairs in my album on the oday rebuild if you want. If I recall correctly, the stern rail is not in cored deck. In any case I didn't have to repair that.
I use my winches for spring lines. No problems so far but my slip is pretty sheltered.
