I have a 1973 25' O-Day and I'm looking for some one how knows how to raise and lower the mast with out the help 5 men and a small boy. I found a article from 1977 but the pictures were bad and I cant quite make it out as just what they are talking about. I'm going to put it on a trailer and try it on some lakes. The boat is in FL. and will be heading north in Dec.

O'day 25 mast stepping
I have a 79 25 and I step and unstep the mast alone using a A-frame. Two 10 ft. lengths of 1" conduit. One piece on each side of the boat close to the life lines with a bolt thru the top to hold them together. Then tie the main haylard to the bolt, and attach a block and tackle to the bolt down to the bracket that the forestay hooks to and pull the mast up. I stand the A-frame straight up when raising the mast and lay it down forward when I lower the mast. I did thru bolt two short pieces of alum. angle on each side of the deck for the bottom of the conduit to sit in and keep it from sliding. Hope this helps.
