25.5 Trailer Setup

Hunter 25.5 Lake Martin
I bought a trailer for my 25.5, and need to adjust the bunks to the correct locations. The keel plate is flat wood, and in good condition. Mine is the wing-keel version boat. I have looked online and searched the forums, but can't find the proper way to measure the bunk heights. Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Mike.

I have not done this before but I imagine the easiest way is to book some time with a boat lift and have the boat set down on your trailer... then slide the posts up until the pads meet the hull and bolt them down. You will probably need about 90 min of boat lift time.

Alternatively, the people who specialize is boat hauling have hydrolic trailers that automatically raise the pads until they meet the hull...

If you can find one that is local and explain what you want to do... they might agree on an acceptable price to put your boat on their trailer and let you take measurments. Find a ramp near a nice pub and offer to pay their lunch tab while you get out your tape measure.

@rgranger gave you excellent advice. As a former dealer for Hunter , I owned a travel lift, hydraulic trailer and other large trailers. It takes knowledge and know how plus years of experience to pull boats out of the water from scratch. I suggest following his advice. I even have launched and retrieved large sailboats using a crane over bridges and walls but will not tell you how I did it due to the complexity of safety issues.

Rob, nice picture of a travel lift but where is it? Not SML for sure
