Well I just came across an Ericson 30+ 1980 in my area. It is a bit bigger than I originally was looking for but I viewed the boat and it is in very nice shape for the age of boat. 4 foot draft which is good for my area, I'm pretty excited. Thanks for the advice on the makes/models, I've been searching for a few years for the right boat for my needs. May have found the one, made an offer, we'll see. Anyone want to talk me out of an ericson 30+ 1980 shoal draft? Before I sign on the dotted line? :) Doug

Doug~ Tim and I are Ericson guys and you will not be let down. The 30 is a nice boat, with a lot of quality craftsmenship there. I hope all goes as you wish

I had one for 14 years abd sailed all over Lake Michigan in her. She took GREAT care of us. WE took MANY 2-week trips and 1 3 week trip, crossing the lake several times, in all kinds of weather. I also solo sailed her for 3 years while my "admiral" was off working during the summers. If I could, I;d buy another just like her.
