Question about the chain[lates.

sailfearless-------- I'm looking to purchase a trailer boat of your size.. Liking the O'Day 222 model because of the way the stays attached close to the cabin allowing to step to the outside of the stays when traversing to the bow and back. I see so much leaking at the chain-plate area and wondered if you have experienced this with the Neptune. Not that this is an issue with my purchase because this can be fixed. It's more like was it fixed before serious conditions were allowed. What is you experience with yours ?

leaks

I've been fortunate never to experience leaks other than around the portholes due to poor caulking. This was easily fixed. I do like the layout of the Neptune and find it a very seaworthy boat. I've been out in weather that has overwhelmed the rudder and she just comes round to wind as designed. I could wish for a bit more keel surface, but a 2' draft is nice at times,(like in and out of T.I. at low tide. I did see a newport for sale on e-bay a couple of months ago in southern cal. If I can find the listing I will post a link. As for selling mine, it would have to be a very sweet offer. thanks sailfearless.
