Anyone know the weight of the O'Day 23's centerboard? I'd rather not be surprised when lying on my back underneath when removing the board to replace the pennant.

I'm going to take a guess and say that your centerboard doesn't weigh more the 40 lbs. If you can raise you boat higher, you won't need to remove it to replace the pendant line, unless you want to inspect the fiber pivot pin. Also, if there is ground under the keel, you have the option of digging a hole under it so that the board can drop lower.
When I removed my centerboard on my O'Day 222, I ran two long ropes over the cabin, in between the grab rails and tied a bowline to the end of each rope near the keel within reaching distance. I took the other ends or the ropes and ran them through the bowline loops twice (Round Turn) pulling the ropes tight around the keel, and secured the turns with half hitches. I also cut a piece of 1X4 with a notch in it, to fit against the centerboard from the ground. I was able to let the ropes hold the centerboard while I was scraping the old caulking out of the grooves where the wedges were. The hardest part of that job is removing those 1/4" bolts without breaking them.

I think the board on a 23 weighs about 60 or 70 lbs. However, if all you are doing is replacing the pendent, you don't need to lower the board anymore than enough to get to the pendent shackle attachment point (let alone remove the board). Removing the board is a big to-do that I wouldn't take on unless necessary.
