23.5 water on table leaking slide cover ?

Hi all ... we are on week 2 of ownership and have discovered that during the week water is leaking in through the top slide cover (or so it seems) as i find water on the table but no dampness anywhere on the roof or lining.

Looks like rain is running to the end of the sliding cover , perhaps down the runners , and then dripping on to the table?

Should i look to renew the runners as they may have shrank or should i apply some sealant to the inner sides of the runners?

[Edit] I found an old post suggesting a hatch cover but seems these are not avaible on the store anymore and i am in the UK, coudl i leave th epop top on?]

any advice welcome

mine did that as well but what fixed it in my boat was removing the piece of wood that is screwed through the plexiglass and caulking a bead between the plexi and the wood then after I reinstalled it there were no more leaks

Yeah,What Bad Said

I had a cover made for mine. It covers the hole area from the mast to the hatch boards. Boat is dry as a bone since.

Sounds like you may have the fix. I have a similar problem on mine (23.5). It's never much water and the table seems to catch it all, so it's never been a big deal. I've found that cleaning the wood rails and the plexi where it slides seems to cut down the amount of water seeping in by a lot, as well as jiggling the sliding hatch sideways some so it doesn't contact the right edge.. Will also try the caulk solution too. The other thing to check is to make sure that the water channels on either side of the slider are clean and free of leaves, etc.

Ricks answer is right on it.

Most of these boats suffer from this type of leak from a heavy driving rain. I tried everything and was finally relieved of my frustration when Kelli sewed up a piece of light weight canvas to simply snap over the entire hatch area and the companion way slats. It functions well as a cooling sun shade for the interior and acrylic when the boat sets at the dock(which is all too often), during broiling summer days while sailing and as a modest skeeter deterrent too.

Just do it and be amazed. I think the canvas and snaps were less than $40. I had to buy my seamstress dinner too but I can't really add that can I;)

I realized the minor leak during a driving rain storm I was below and could see the water wick between the plexi and the teak then start the drip on the table since I caulked between them it hasnt left any water on the table from rain ,
