Ever since I got my 23.5 I have noticed that when it rains I will get water in the pocket of the hull behind the rear berth. I pulled off part of the rub rail where I saw it leaking and put silicone around the screws that penetrated the hull but now it seems water is coming in else where. Is this a common problem with the 23.5? Thanks

If you have a electric start outboard check there.Mine used shore power fitting which leaked.

I have also heard that silicone caulk isn't much good - may want to try a more robust caulk like the right "model" (part number) of the 3M sealant (the one that is not the permanent glue), or BoatLife LifeCalk.

Not really - just that others here with more experience say it doesn't seal as well and fails earlier.
