I have not been able to find my owners manual since my wife made me clean my office. Can someone look and tell me what size the halyards are? Has anyone replaced them with somthing other than what the boat came with? Mine still has the original ones on it and the other day when raising the mast the jib halyard looked like it is about time to throw a new one on it.

Replacement halyards

I replaced mine with 3/8" Sta-set a few years ago. They are more than strong enough. Since sheets are handled much more frequently, they should be a bit bigger (7/16" or 1/2") to be easier on the hands. To estimate length, I assumed twice the mast height plus ten feet extra for handling and knots. I cut a foot or so off the shackle end every couple of years so the same part of the halyard doesn't sit on the sheave and wear. Don't forget to add more if your halyards run back to the cockpit. Sheet sizes

My boat was 7 years old when I got it. The sheets were 7/16, I believe, and I replaced them with new 7/16. Last year I downsized them both to 3/8. I reduced the mainsheet because there was so much friction in the blocks that I had to push the boom out in light to moderate air. I replaced the jib sheets so I could fit the (Forespar) whisker pole onto them. I miss the thicker sheets for how they felt in the hands, but I'm happier now with the increased utility. ...RickM...
