Our 1993 23.5 is in need of new companonway hatch boards, but I have been unsuccessful in locating a piece of 1/2" teak plywood locally. Does anybody know of a supplier, on the web or otherwise, where I could purchase a piece? Thanks, Rob "Kinship"

I Had the Same Trouble

Not sure you want plywood for these. I ended up getting some thicker stuff planed down to the right size. It cost the same for me to buy the made pieces as it would have to buy the raw lumber. If you can get the lumber any cabinet maker around you can size it to the proper dimensions for you.

Rob go with solid Teak

Rob, I think we're all in the same boat (quite literally ;D) My boards are shot. I found some teak planks from a wood seller on ebay type in "Teak" and see what shows up. The seller did not have what I was looking for on ebay but I contacted him and he had what I needed at a reasonable price. The three boards are 1 1/16 thick and 10 inches wide by 36 inches long. I am going to plane them to 3/4 inch thick and dado the edges on my table saw to 3/8 inch to fit in the groove. If you do not know anyone with a planer you can take the boards to a cabinet maker and I'm sure he could plane them for you for a nominal fee. As Rick said it isn't worth trying to find teak laminate plywood all it is going to do is rot again. Spanish Cedar is also a good rot resistant wood. Good luck, Jonathan Costello Heeling Powers

I just made new ones out of Lexan

I like teak in the cabin, and even in the cockpit where I can cover it up, but I to get away from the teak hatch bds, reduce the # from 4 to 2, let more light in. Lexan is easy to work with, less $, and maintenance free. I got what I needed, 1/2" thick, on Ebay for $20 plus shipping.

Tom, Where do you sail at?

Tom, where do you sail from? I belong to CYC and keep my 23.5 there. Like to meet up with you and see how you did the hatch cover. Ross
