This is an update on the modifications to the centerboard mounting bracket article and photo project. The centerboard was reinstalled last Saturday. The play on the board was minimal and the major movement was the mounting bracket, since it only has the one bolt we felt that this was fine (hey Hunter built it this way). We relaunched the boat on Monday. My wife and I spent every day this week cleaning and re-organizing after the much needed maintenance. On Wednesday we had high winds and heavy seas at the marina. The boat was rocking and moving everyway it could. However, we had no noise at all from the centerboard. It was really nice to be on the boat and not hearing the banging of the centerboard. Also, installing the new uphaul was a piece of cake. The only problem with the uphaul line is making sure I had proper adjust to ensure full swing (up and down) of the centerboard. Line length is very important. After adjusting the line I left the centerboard about 3/4 up to allow the line to stretch. The new line needed to adjust to boat.I just thought some of you would like to know.
