Can anyone either post, or E-mail me some good detail pictures of what the Hunter V-berth kit for the 216 looks like installed in the boat? Pictures with the cushions removed and whatever underbracing visible would be helpful also. Now that the problem of water leaking down the mast is solved, this is a viable option. I'd like to get an idea of whether it's something I could homebrew much cheaper, or should bite the bullet and buy it from the factory. Thanks! Bob

216 Cuddy

Hey Bob! Can't help with the berths, but wonder how you fixed the down-mast leak. We're using a snap-on boot from Select Yachts along with the sheet rubber from Hunter and plugged the sail track. Still get water. What's goin' on? John

216 cuddy water leak

I used the Hunter-supplied mast boot, but modified the installation. Instead of using the Velcro to close the collar around the mast, I overlapped the ends of the collar, and sealed the top edge to the mast with a plastic UV proof self-bonding tape. I sealed the mast track with Marine Goop. Bob

216 Cuddy

I will attempt to send some pictures of the v-Berth. I have tried the Mast Boot with additional tape on the outside. Water is minimized but still there. Hunter gave me a gasket to put on before the mast goes up. I will try that next year. Any other ideas on keeping the water out of the cuddy? Connie

Here ( I hope!) is a picture of the Hunter-supplied mast boot as it is installed on my boat. You MUST completely seal off the mast track groove or water will continue to get in that way. Marine Goop was my answer for that problem, and I get NO water in the cuddy at all now. Bob

216 mast boot picture....NOT!

My photos are in gif. format, which doesn't work on this board. If anyone wants to see a photo of the installed mast boot, OR the boarding ladder in it's stowed and deployed positions, just email me at rcowgill@cfl.rr.com, and I'll send the pix with my reply. Bob
