2017 Solar Eclipse Regatta

ive been asked by my sailing club to organize a fun unconventional Regatta during the solar eclipse on August 21. Lake Winnebago in Wisconsin has lots of room to play and I'd like to do more than just a race. Any ideas? A crescent moon shaped course starting at the minute the moon first starts to block the sun? A straight line course with the turn at the apex of the eclipse? Ideas?

That'd be really cool - could raft up boats at the bow in a star-like pattern. Especially nice if it's a calm day.

We're planning a group sail and raftup. You might want to order plenty of eclipse glasses since someone will forget to get theirs.

Our club is in the path of totality. I could just step out my door at home and watch it in Sumter, SC. But dang it's gonna be so much more fun on the boat!

While Sailing would be great fun, We are going to experience event in the vineyard of our local winery sipping some of their finest. They even bottled a special vintage just for the eclipse.
